Cambodia Accommodation

Cambodia Travel Plan will always try to provide characteristic Cambodia accommodation that has the look and feel of the country. Most accommodation options have a relatively high comfort-level. The rooms will always have private bathrooms and facilities and many will have air conditioning. Sometimes they may even have a swimming pool. Accommodation in the smaller towns is usually quite basic.

We use a hand-picked, eclectic selection of authentic, comfortable hotels. We steer clear of international chains, as we prefer to use properties with local character and warmth. We personally ensure that each property has the right combination of features such as cleanliness, location, friendly staff. good service, and local character. Of course, we always balance this against a good value for money. Our properties are reviewed regularly, and we can certainly vouch for their quality.

These properties are often fairly small, with only a handful of rooms, so we don't name the hotels in advance of booking. We use a pool of accommodation in each destination, which means that if one hotel is full, we are able to offer another of equal standard. We don't name them purely because we do not know which of these will be available at the moment of booking, and we do not like to fix customer expectations on one particular hotel. Once your booking is confirmed, we'll send you a comprehensive list of all of your hotels.

Cambodia accommodation categories

Cambodia Travel Plan uses comfort-level ''ratings'' from 1 to 5 for each accommodation featured in an itinerary or travel module. Below you'll find examples and descriptions for each rating. Our standard accommodation and most frequently used is rated as a comfort-level 3. These properties have a pleasant ambiance about them, and you'll stay in a comfortable room with your own private bathroom with shower and toilet, but without unnecessary luxurious.

Category 1. Very basic accommodation
Primitive accommodation in a hut/tent with limited facilities. This accommodation category is not used for travel in Cambodia.

Category 2. Basic accommodation
Simple, yet relatively comfortable. The travel modules Mekong, dolphins and Boloven Plateau and Cambodian hill tribes and totem poles feature this type of accommodation as you stay in small villages. An overnight stay in this type of accommodation offers you a truly genuine Cambodian experience, free of any western influences. You'll spend the night in a small, basic room but still with your own bathroom. During the Cambodian hill tribes and totem poles module you'll spend the night in a traditional jungle lodge. In Stung Treng, during the Mekong, dolphins and Boloven Plateau module you'll stay at an accommodation that currently doesn't have warm water; but they're working on it.

Category 3. Comfortable accommodation
Clean, charming and well maintained accommodation at a prime location. In most cases, accommodation offered by Cambodia Travel Plan will be of this category. They vary from charming small hotels to cosy bungalows.

Category 4. Upgraded accommodation
For some of our travel modules we feature very unique and extraordinary accommodation, slightly more expensive than our standard accommodation. However these very special places are well worth the extra costs.
