Alex CastleCambodia Travel SpecialistAfter finishing my degree in Psychology in 2006, I bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand and my passport has been my best friend ever since.I visited Cambodia in 2010 for the first time and I have never wanted to go back somewhere so much in my life. Waking up early for the sunrise over Angkor Wat is one of the most incredible experiences of my life. It is impossible to take a bad picture whilst exploring the vast stone temples and it really needs to be experienced first-hand. The nearby town of Siem Reap has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and nothing tops off a day of sightseeing better than an Ice-cream Sunday from Blue Pumpkin Cafe. |

JemmaCambodia Travel SpecialistI first travelled to Cambodia from HCMC via the Mekong Delta. After the hustle and bustle of Vietnam’s largest city, Cambodia was a breath of fresh air. I spent a few days in Phnom Penh during which I visited both the Tuol Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields; an emotional experience but one that I don’t think any trip to Cambodia should be without. The Grand Palace, which is every bit as majestic as its counterpart in Bangkok, is also well worth a visit. From Phnom Penh, I made my way via Tonle Sap Lake, to the charming town of Siem Reap and the awesome Angkor Wat. Every moment spent in the ancient city of Angkor is a photo opportunity! |
Natasha PageCambodia Travel Plan Sales SupervisorI first visited Cambodia two years ago as part of a 3 month trip around South East Asia. After travelling through Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, I headed in to Phnom Penh via the Mekong Delta.Phnom Penh is a wonderful city, filled with culture and colonial heritage. The variety of bars and restaurants is growing year on year and I even found an Irish bar on the Riverside that sells cider!!! Despite this growth in tourism, the Khmer traditions are still thriving. I spent a good few hours immersed in the buzzing Russian Market where you can buy anything under the sun. Next, I took the bus up to Siem Reap, the base for visiting Angkor Wat and its’ surrounding temples. The majestic Angkor Wat is one of the most famous ruin sites in the world and really lives up to all the hype. It is simply awe inspiring in real life. No trip to Cambodia would be complete without it, along with a cocktail or two at Siem Reap’s infamous ‘Angkor What?’ bar. I have been back to Cambodia twice since this first trip and I’m pretty sure I’ll be going again soon. |

Haydn WrathManaging Director of Cambodia Travel PlanI left the University of East Anglia in 1984 and escaped what seemed a very grim England by spending the rest of the 1980s travelling independently and working myself round the world. During this time I put in some usual stints as an English teacher in Tokyo, a landscape gardener in Sydney and a tarmac layer's assistant in Alaska. In 1990, I joined Bridge the World Travel Centre in London as manager of the World-wide department, where I was able to put my degree in Politics and Philosophy to good use.I fulfilled my ambition to set up a specialist travel company in 2001 when I founded Travel Nation, and later in 2007 set up Rickshaw Travel and Cambodia Travel Plan. I have travelled independently to Cambodia, and am always utterly charmed by the people and the atmosphere there. Cambodia despite its dark history has so much going for it that it hard to see anything but a positive future for it. Also of course, in common with so many other visitors, when in Cambodia, I am in food paradise...especially that fish Amok they do.... |
