Alex CastleCambodia Travel SpecialistAfter finishing my degree in Psychology in 2006, I bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand and my passport has been my best friend ever since.I visited Cambodia in 2010 for the first time and I have never wanted to go back somewhere so much in my life. Waking up early for the sunrise over Angkor Wat is one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had. It is impossible to take a bad picture whilst exploring the vast stone temples and it really needs to be experienced first-hand. The nearby town of Siem Reap has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and nothing tops off a day of sightseeing better than an ice-cream sundae from Blue Pumpkin Cafe. |

Jennifer ParkerCambodia Travel Plan Sales SupervisorCambodia was one of my favourite destinations during my round-the-world trip in 2005. After crossing the border with Thailand I head to Siem Reap where I visited the amazing Angkor temples. It was great fun scrabbling over the ruins and watching the sun rise over Angkor Wat. I also charmed by the town of Siem Reap itself, with it's old French shop-houses, shady tree-lined boulevards and slow-flowing river. This was a truly relaxing stop on my rather hectic 6-month journey! From Siem Reap I travelled by bus over Cambodia's bumpy roads to the capital, Phnom Penh, a city that never fails to captivate. Here I learnt about Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge regime and was so moved by the incredible strength of its people. For me Cambodia was a truly inspiring place, somewhere I would recommend everyone to visit and a country I will definitely return to. |
Haydn WrathManaging Director of Cambodia Travel PlanI left the University of East Anglia in 1984 and escaped what seemed a very grim England by spending the rest of the 1980s travelling independently and working myself round the world. During this time I put in some usual stints as an English teacher in Tokyo, a landscape gardener in Sydney and a tarmac layer's assistant in Alaska. In 1990, I joined Bridge the World Travel Centre in London as manager of the World-wide department, where I was able to put my degree in Politics and Philosophy to good use.I fulfilled my ambition to set up a specialist travel company in 2001 when I founded Travel Nation, and later in 2007 set up Rickshaw Travel and Cambodia Travel Plan. I have travelled independently to Cambodia, and am always utterly charmed by the people and the atmosphere there. Cambodia despite its dark history has so much going for it that it hard to see anything but a positive future for it. Also of course, in common with so many other visitors, when in Cambodia, I am in food paradise...especially that fish Amok they do.... |
