Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City - Free TimeToday is free for you to do as you please. You won't be short of things to do when you travel to Ho Chi Minh City. For instance, there are lots of museums that will give you an impression of the Vietnam War, or as the Vietnamese call it, 'The American War'. There is the War Remnants Museum, outside of which is a small collection of bombs and a helicopter. Inside there are photos of all the horrors that took place during the war; it’s a good idea to prepare yourself for what you’re going to see because the photos leave nothing to your imagination, and many of them are quite shocking.Alternatively, if you fancy something a little more light-hearted you could head to the grand colonial-style opera house or pick up some bargains at the central market. You'll have to haggle hard to get the best deals, though you'll find that tourists are always charged more than the locals. Of course, if you're staying in our stylish hotel option you could just spend the day by the pool! |
Optional Add-On: Evening Vespa Street Food TourIf you want to experience the real rhythm of life in Ho Chi Minh City this trip is a great way to do so. Just like a local you'll hop on the back of a vintage Vespa scooter and along with your experienced driver and guide weave through the backstreets of the city. You'll visit the places that few tourists see as you sample some of the best street food that Vietnam has to offer. All bikes are properly maintained and you'll be provided with a safety helmet. You'll meet your guide and driver at around 6pm and finish at your final stop at around 10pm. This is a truly unique way to see the city and interact with it's inhabitants over a tasty spring roll! This Vietnam trip is available every evening. If you'd like us to book this trip for you during your free day in Ho Chi Minh City, just let us know on the quote request form or ask your Travel Specialist. |

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City DepartureAfter breakfast it's time to say goodbye to Ho Chi Minh City and head off to your next destination. If there's time before your next module you could visit the Reunification Palace; a symbol of the end of the Vietnam War. This is the spot where the first communist tanks rode into on 30 April 1975. Once through the iron gates they hoisted the Viet Cong flag from the roof symbolising the start of communist rule. For your next destination perhaps you're ready to see more of Vietnam? If so, take a look at our Vietnam modules for some inspriration. Just let one of our friendly travel specialists know what you'd like to add on to your Cambodia trip. |
